Ladder Safety Check List

Important points to be check when ever a ladder is being used in a construction site

1          Check for split, broken, missing, damaged rungs, side rails, bent or missing hinges or any other damage that hinders safe usage of the ladder
2          Wood or aluminium ladders shall not be painted. Side rails shall not have any projections
3          Check if ladders have a uniformly spaced rungs. A rung spacing of 300mm (12 inches) is preferable        4          Check if the rungs have any oil, grease spilled on it or any ropes etc that could cause tripping or slipping when used.
5          Check if the Ladders rungs are knurled, corrugated, or dimpled
6          Ensure ladders are placed at a slope of 4:1 (for every 4 meter of vertical rise the base set 1 meter out)
7          If ladders are used vertically ensure ladders are rigidly attached to a support structure at the top middle or bottom of the ladder

8          Ensure all ladders ex…

Scaffold Safety Checklist

Safety aspects that needs to be ensured while using a scaffolding at a construction site
1          Inspect all components used for assembly of scaffolding prior to assembly and each use
2Check if the components made by different manufacturers have been intermixed.
3Check if the components made by different manufacturers have been modified in order to intermix them.
4Check if only compatible (fit together with out use of mechanical force) components have been intermixed with out compromising the structural integrity
5Check if the scaffold components are free from detrimental corrosion
6Remove excessively damaged, corroded scaffold components
7Check if the scaffold components are made of dissimilar metals 8Ensure sufficient precaution have been taken prior to exposure of scaffold components to acids or corrosivesubstances
9Ensure threaded parts are lubricated and have attained full thread engangement 10Checks planks for defects, damage, decay and warping
11Ensure planks are not pa…

Oxy Fuel Welding Safety Checklist

Safety Checks prior to use of an Oxy fuel welding equipment

Equipment Pre Start Checks
1Check cylinders are secured and in upright position and secured in a trolley
2Check cylinder labelling. Check there is no mechanical damage. Check condition of the seat and ensure it is clean and dry
3Inspect the valve for damage. If the valve appears to be damaged, “Do Not Open”. 4Crack cylinder valve prior to fitting gauges, do not cover with hand.
5Check type, rating and condition. When fitting regulators to cylinders ensure they are not contaminated with oil or grease.
6Flash Back Arrestor should be fitted on both the regulator and blow pipe ends of the hose. Ensure FBA’s are operational.
7Check correct hoses are fitted for Oxygen (Blue), Acetylene (Red), or LPG (Orange). 8Check hoses for damage particularly at junctions to fittings 9Ensure the blow pipe is in good condition, the body is true, valves open and close fully, threads and seats are in good condition
10Check the tip condition, seats are in good…

Arc Welding Safety Checklist

Daily Checks that should be performed during arc welding operations

Welding Machine Checks

1          Ensure power supply is disconnected prior to performing these checks
2          Check for damages to switch or socket
3          Ensure that the correct size plug is fitted for the rated current and duty cycle of the welding machines
4          Check the power supply cable is of correct rating
5          Check if the power supply cable plug is damaged
6          Check for cuts, burns, abrasions or other damage to the supply cable insulation
7          Ensure that the supply cable is located away from welding cables and connections.  8          Ensure supply cable is securely anchored on to welding machines and plug
9          Inspect the welding machine for damages to the cabinet, power switches, indicator lights and controls
10         Ensure that the welding cable connections to the welding machine are in good condition, contact surfaces are clean…
